San Juan Bautista
Went to a state park San Juan Bautista yesterday. Quaint little city, that time seems to have pasted by.
Incorporated in 1869 the general law City of San Juan Bautista is nestled in the heart of the noted San Juan Valley between the Gabilan Mountains and Flint Hills. Rich with culture and history, San Juan Bautista offers her residents and visitors a refreshing small town atmosphere filled with the charm and character of the past.
Danny, our farrell cross-eyed, calico cat
Danny has adopted us, wonder if it’s because I feed her. She is so friendly for a farrell cat. She’s had a litter of kittens since we’ve been here. I was able to pick her up and put her in a cat trap for her trip to the vet – no more kittens for her. Believe it or not, even after her trip to the vet, she will let me pet her.
San Francisco – Our Anniversary – July 13-16
Arrived in San Francisco Tuesday evening. Walk to China Town and spent a couple of hours walking through the shops. Went to dinner at a Jai Yun, a place I read about on the internet … ”one of the San Francisco Chronicle’s top-rated Chinatown restaurants. The chef shops daily in Chinatown, changing the menu based on what he finds.” When we arrived, we were told there was not a menu – our choice was dinner for 2 – $80, $95 or $110. Being frugal, we choose the $80. They started with appetizers – 12 small plates — pig’s knuckles, sea weed, cabbage, tofu and more. After that they continued to bring small plates – too many to count, but it was wonderful!!! Well worth $80 — oops, that was $80 each! Still worth it. A great anniversary dinner, we’ll remember it (if not the price for a long time).
Wednesday we went to the Japanese Tea Garden, then walked through Haight Ashbury. Continued on to Pier 1, then walked along the shore. Stopped at the Crab House on Pier 39 for lunch – again a great meal. Walked down to fisherman’s wharf, people watched, stopped for a beer and killed time until our Segway Tour. The tour was great, we saw parts of SF we hadn’t been too. Walked back to China Town for a more traditional Chinese dinner, then walked back to the Hotel.
Thursday, we took a tour. Bus picked us up at our hotel, then we drove across the Golden Gate Bridge to Muir Woods NHS for about an hour. We visited 3 different Sanoma wineries and had lunch in Sanomo. A hot, sunny day We took the ferry from Sausilto back to SF. We walked back to our Hotel and had dinner at Marrakech Morroccan Restaurant – complete with a belly dancer.
Headed back to Santa Cruz Friday morning, now it’s time to head back to work.
We really enjoyed our Anniversary and San Francisco.
Santa Cruz Wharf – Sea Lions
Picked up our bikes from the Bike Shop in Capitola, then rode down to the wharf. Decided we wanted to eat at Gilda’s on the Wharf in Santa Cruz, so we load the bikes on the car and drove to Santa Cruz. Parked the car and rode our bikes down to the beach. Really enjoyed the sea lions at the wharf.
